Outpost Security Suite Pro is a powerful internet security suite with a robust set of features. There are some areas that could use improvement, but Outpost Security Suite Pro is definitely a competent internet security suite. The manufacturer, Agnitum is known for their strong firewall, which is a major component of this internet security software. The personal two-way firewall works in tandem with antivirus and antispyware scanning engines to keep your PC protected from all sorts of threats.

There are several security vendors who offer free antivirus software, but Outpost actually has a free version of their internet security suite. Outpost Security Suite Free is a nice offering, but there are a few limitations that make upgrading to the Pro version a better option.
Antispyware:
Outpost Security Suite Pro utilizes a scanning engine that scans both viruses and spyware (and other forms of malware for that matter). The internet security suite actually protects your PC in real time by analyzing files and preventing any attempt by malware to infiltrate. When a threat is detected it is promptly removed. The software is capable of cleaning some infected files, and in cases where it can’t, the threats are moved to a safe holding cell known as a quarantine.
Antivirus:
Outpost Security Suite Pro features always-on antivirus protection to keep new threats at bay, but you can also perform manual scans to detect malware that may already be on your computer. You can perform a quick scan or a full system scan, and either variety can be scheduled to run at a specific time (ideally when you’re not using your computer). The comprehensive scanning engine searches your files and folders but also scans the PC registry, memory and archived files.
Agnitum Outpost Security Suite Pro has been tested by Virus Bulletin and awarded the VB100 award, which means the software is capable of detecting in-the-wild malware. However, it should be noted that Outpost is near the back of the pack in terms of reactive and proactive detection rates. So while Outpost Security Suite Pro is competent, it’s not necessarily the most effective.
Firewall:
Agnitum’s standalone firewall is one of the best in the industry, and it’s the strongest offering of their internet security suite. Outpost Security Suite Pro features a comprehensive two-way firewall that secures all communication to and from your PC. The firewall protects your network and enables a safe online experience. The firewall keeps your connections and communication safe by keeping intruders out and your sensitive information in.
The firewall in Outpost Security Suite is very robust but also quite flexible. The firewall can even run in stealth mode. There are several rules, filters, policies and settings that you can adjust to accommodate your custom needs. You can tweak every aspect of the firewall, but it is also set by default to provide optimum security without interfering with normal computer activity.
Other Security/Features:
The included additional features in Outpost Security Suite Pro aren’t as impressive as the best internet security suites, but there are still some features worth calling out. For starters, the software includes some tools to help prevent identity theft. The ID Block utility lets you enter sensitive information, and Outpost will automatically warn you when it’s being shared. For example, you can enter your credit card number and Outpost Security Suite Pro will prevent that data from being leaked online.
Another added feature in Outpost Security Suite Pro is the file and folder lock. If you have private or otherwise sensitive data stored on your computer (don’t we all?), you can entrust it with your internet security suite. The file and folder lock lets you maintain local control of the data, while adding an additional layer of protection from digital and physical intruders.
Ease of Use:
We found Outpost Security Suite Pro to be a bit difficult to operate compared to other internet security suites we reviewed. The menus aren’t intuitive, and the software could use an updated user interface design. It’s not that the software is inherently difficult to operate, but usability could certainly be improved.
